The first year of the Bromley Go-Ride Racing League reached its conclusion on Saturday, with a race meeting to remember. Hosted by Bigfoot Go-Ride at Ravensbourne School, we had a fantastic turn out with 47 riders taking part – 24 of them from Bigfoot!
Volunteers from Ravensbourne set up the most challenging circuit yet – a cross country mountain bike course, with climbs and descents on a grass track, a singletrack course snaking in and out of the trees, and a steep descent down onto a section of tarmac before heading back onto the grass to the finish line.
All the Bigfoot riders did really well, with race wins for Cameron McIntyre and Imogen Meers, and podium finishes for Jack Harradine, Irfan Zaman, Milly Shemmings, Jack Friend and Callum McIntyre.
You can read the race report, check out the full results and look through the photo gallery on the racing league website.
We have a winner!
The final league positions of the season were decided on Saturday, and we are proud to announce that Imogen Meers was crowned the overall winner of the Under 10s category. Imogen came first in all ten races in 2010-11 and finishes the season unbeaten – a fantastic acheivement! She was pushed close all year by our own Irfan Zaman, who finished the Under 10s category in second place. Also doing well in the under 10s was Milly Shemmings, who took fourth place overall.
In the under 8s a tight battle had been going on all season, with Bigfoot riders taking four of the top five places! Second place went to Jack Harradine, followed closely by Cameron McIntyre, just two points behind. Sannah Zaman finished in third place, followed by Lily Meers.
Bigfoot dominated the Under 12s too, taking five out of the top six places. Sam Hopkins was rewarded for consistency all season by a second place finish, with Callum McIntyre just one point behind. Making up our famous five were Aaron McIntrye, Hannah Buckley and Emily Ogden.
Finally, in the competitive Under 14s group, Michael Chambers was outnumbered but never outgunned, finishing the year in third place.

A great first year
The first season of the Bromley Go-Ride Racing League has exceeded all our expectations: in total 68 riders from seven different clubs have taken part over the course of five events.
Congratulations to every rider who has taken part and made the league so much fun and so exciting to be involved with.
Thanks to the volunteers who have organised the race meetings, marked out the courses, carried the kit across fields, put up the gazebos, provided the refreshments, carried out the risk assessmsents, filled in the forms, registered the riders, recorded the results, taken the photographs, and updated the website!
But most of all, thanks to the riders who’ve made the league such a runaway success, and the the mums, dads and carers who enabled them to come along.
