Bigfoot Go-Ride is all about developing bike skills while having fun. The main focus of the club’s activity is our Saturday morning sessions, held at Pickhurst Junior School throughout the year during term time. Each week our volunteer British Cycling-qualified Go-Ride coaches put the riders through their paces, with warm ups, skills circuits, and mini races.
A typical Saturday session will involve a bike safety check, a warm up session, and then two or three planned Go-Ride coaching activities, which are designed to progressively develop bike handling skills, improve fitness and introduce riders to different types of cycle racing.
We make sure that all coaching activities are appropriate for the age and skill level of all the children taking part, to make sure that we develop skills and confidence gradually.
Throughout the year we also arrange a number of (free) activities away from our base at Pickhurst Junior School. Last year these included a coaching session at the historic Herne Hill velodrome, a mountain bike adventure on local trails, racing at the Bromley Bike Blast, mountain bike coaching at the Herne Hill off-road circuit, and inter-club racing competitions at Priory School in Orpington and Alexandra School in Hayes.
All our coaches are CRB checked, have a first aid qualification and are fully insured. Coaches are qualified to British Cycling Level 2.
